Arad County School Inspectorate (Inspectoratul Școlar Județean Arad – ISJA) supervises 143 schools (out of which 67 are in urban area, while 76 are in rural areas), more than 5,000 teaching staff and over 60,000 students.

Applying the policies and strategies of the Ministry of Education, ISJA provides the framework for personal and professional development for all the educational staff in the county, promoting innovation and pro-reforming policies; committed to pursuing equity in education and to guaranteeing equal opportunities and free competition in order to attain quality education in the service it provides.

Main activities:
-applying the national policies regarding education;
-counceling and supporting schools and teaching staff;
-improving the pupils school results applying the nationalpolicies and strategies;
-evaluating the professional competences / activities of the teaching staff;
-ensuring the quality of the didactic activity;
-monitoring the quality of the school management and teaching-learning activities according to national standards;
-coordinating school-enrollment, national exams, school graduating exam (the Baccalaureate) and school competitions;
-mediating the conflicts between schools and local public administration/ municipality;
-controlling and verifying if law and legal norms regarding curriculum are applied;
-organizing and conducting school inspections;
-advising and assessing teachers’ activity;
-offering councelling regarding school management;
-ensuring the necessary human resource in schools;
-identifying the professional and training needs of teaching staff;
-monitoring and assessing training programs and their impact upon teaching activities.

Priorities:
-quality standards in education;
-equal access to education and preventing school drop out;
-resources in education/digitalization;
-internationalization; increasing the European dimensions of education and training;
-complementarities of extracurricular (nonformal) activities to school (formal) education;
-opening of the educational system and vocational training towards the economic, cultural and social environment;

The 23 school inspectors (for different subjects, management, European projects, primary education) from Arad County School Inspectorate were selected from a group of creditable teachers and trainers from Arad county, being persons with a lot of experience in the didactic activity, authors of different studies, curricula and methodologies guides, authors of textbooks and specialty books. Most of them are mentors, local and national trainers, involved in training, counseling and evaluation activities. With professionalism in decision making, taking responsibility for its actions and promoting transparency and professionalism, the whole team, led by one general school inspector and two deputy school inspectors, is committed to shaping a modern comunity of students and teachers.

 As promoter of national and European education strategies, ISJA organizes each year a wide range of cultural and scientific activities such as: local, national and international symposia, conferences and workshops. These aim at enhancing the academic training of both the teachers and the students and to connect the academic community with the local society. A peculiarity of the Arad County School Inspectorate is the desire to enhance the role of teachers in active training, in order to develop new skills and competences, to exchange good practices and experiences with experts or colleagues inland and abroad. Although the relations with the comunity are valued and rewarded.

Through the years, Arad County School Inspectorate was also involved in the different projects funded by European Commission through the Erasmus+, Horizon 2020, EEA and Norway Grants, European Social Funds. All projects addressed priorities such: multiliteracy, digitalisation, bullying, equal chances, school failure, quality in education, employability, Roma children, sustainability a.o. Thus, educators continually improve their practice, support student empowerment and success, inspire students to positively contribute to their own development and to responsibly participate in the rapidly changing world.
